The Center for Auto Safety
Although Ford has tried to mislead the public into believing the fire crashes in Crown Victorias are unsurvivable due to high speed, they are generally survivable because the Crown Victoria has so much crush space and strong seats to absorb the energy of the crash. This past 4th of July, Cobb County GA Officer Greg Abbott's 1998 Crown Victoria was rear ended by a 18-wheel truck. The crash jammed the doors and set off a fire ball. Shielded momentarily from the flames by a Plexiglass security screen, Officer Abbott miraculously escaped without a scratch by climbing out the broken passenger window. Arizona Officers Cruz, Fink and Neilson were not so fortunate and died from burn injuries.

In the Ford Crown Victoria car there's not just room for six, but room enough in which to stretch out and relax and enjoy the ride. True six-passenger seating is the cornerstone of the "traditional" full-size car. This year you can enjoy touring car luxury in the sporty 5-passenger LX Sport. Also enjoy traditional V8 power and strong body-on frame construction. The spacious and fully carpeted "deep-well" trunk for carrying your belongings is another big feature of the traditional full-size car.

When the 1955 Ford hit the market, it became Fords second BEST YEAR since the 1923 model T. The 1955 Ford got a major facelift rakish look. 1955 was a HOMERUN body style! It had beautiful FLOWING LINES of stainless on the "top of the fender" to the "tear drop side stainless trim," that extended the full length of the sides of the quarter panels. It had oval parking lights. It had beautiful chrome trim around the headlight rims. But what really set the Crown Victoria off was the BIG WIDE band of Stainless that actually CROWNED the top of the roof!! Rose (Pink) and Snowshoe White was a new and "VERY COOL" looking exterior choice for the Crown Victoria. All of the the regular Victoria stainless trim plus the Crown stainless trim across he top of the new roof line "HIGHLIGHTED" Tropical Rose (Pink) and Snowshoe White Crown Victoria. Then when you add the Magenta (Pink) and White interior with all of the stainless interior trim, it was a "Killer Color Combo" !!! And today 48 years later THIS GORGEOUS Tropical Rose (Pink) and Snowshoe White 1955 Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria is more of a "HEADTURNER" than when it was first hit the showroom in the Fall of 1954. It is a very nice example! The beautiful Chrome and Stainless plus the wrap around Bumper Guards "HIGHLIGHTS" this Tropical Rose (Pink) and Snowshoe White Crown Victoria from any angle that you look at it!! The photos on this web site will confirm that. It was a one family owned car till about 15 years ago.

From a styling viewpoint the 1955 Ford was an all-new car, right from the plain-Jane Mainline Tudors up through the spiffy new Thunderbird. Even the top of the line model name was new, with Fairlane replacing the previously used Crestline. A year before, Ford had introduced the Crestline Skyliner as a variation on its regular two-door Victoria hardtop. Featuring a green-tinted plexiglass roof panel over the front seat passenger and driver, this body style met with good customer acceptance and was carried on into 1955 as the Crown Victoria Skyliner. The word "Crown" was added to the model name thanks to the sweeping chrome band bisecting the roofs on both the Crown Victoria and the Crown Victoria Skyliner.
