Chief Oblein requested the council approve the purchase of a 2001 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor from the Kansas Highway Patrol at a cost of $11,300. The Council briefly discussed the positive experience with the purchase of Kansas Highway Patrol vehicles and allowing individual officers to be responsible for an assigned car. The cars are inspected routinely by Sergeant Shaun Ryan.

Additional coalition activities have helped to put dedicated CNG taxicabs on the streets of San Francisco. With the help of stakeholders, grant funding, incentives, and regulations, the San Francisco Clean Cities Coalition has assisted in putting approximately 30 dedicated CNG Crown Victoria taxis into operation in the Bay area and plans are underway to add approximately 25 additional taxis.

Susan Brown, the finance officer, will present the fifth amendment to the 2005-06 county budget. Highlights include appropriating $89,000 for new equipment at the jail, $85,000 for a new Ford E-450 Type III ambulance and $40,000 for two new Ford Crown Victoria cruisers for the sheriff's office. The total cost of the amendment will come to nearly $214,000. After one quarter, the general contingency fund has been reduced to about $10,200; it began at nearly $163,000. The two largest expenses were severance pay for former County Manager Loria Williams ($76,000) and a new fire radio system ($45,000).
