IGN: Wacky Races Review
February 5, 2001 - You remember Wacky Races. Sure you do. Eating Cookie Crisp in your underwear at 7:30am on Saturday, two inches from the TV, cheering on Peter Perfect, Penelope Pitstop, or maybe just hoping that Dick Dastardly and Muttley would just plow through them all with a Ford Excursion and win the damn race once and for all. All was forgotten, until gaming hit the cart-racing jag with Mario Kart, and went a little off its rocker with everything from Woody Woodpecker and LEGO to Crash Team Racing. It's only fair, then, that Infogrames jumps in with an actual racing cartoon to match with its cartoony racing game.

Cruising along in a 2004 Ford Excursion gives you a secure feeling. The optional V10 is a delightful engine. It produces 310 horsepower and generates a very impressive 425 pounds-feet of torque at 3250 rpm. It can propel the Excursion along the Interstate at high rates of speed. Tell someone you have a V10 and they think you're driving a rocket.

Based on the F-250 and F-350 Super Duty pickup trucks, the Excursion is Ford's largest SUV. It's also bigger than the Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon XL. The Ford Excursion SUV is intended to serve those with large broods and towing needs, but want something more stylish (or off-road-worthy) than a full-size van. If you're in the market for such a vehicle, and neither the Suburban nor the Yukon XL does it for you sizewise, this is your SUV. The Ford Excursion SUV comes standard with four-wheel antilock disc brakes. Optional equipment includes power-adjustable foot pedals and a reverse-sensing system. Designed to be as crash-compatible with regular passenger cars as possible, the Excursion includes a Blockbeam at the front of the frame to help dissipate crash energy during a collision with a smaller vehicle. Donated by the Super Duty pickup truck, the rather industrial dashboard of the Ford Excursion prioritizes function over form. Eddie Bauer models dress things up a bit with a two-tone color scheme, while Limiteds get cherrywood trim to jazz up the interior. The Excursion can carry nine passengers in XLS or XLT trim, but all other models are restricted to eight because of the front captain's chairs.
