May 23, 2003 - Ford Motor Company is conducting a safety recall to inspect the intermediate steering shaft yoke on certain 1997 model year Ford F-150 and F-250 pickups and Ford Expeditions. In the small number of these vehicles in which the intermediate steering shaft yoke was not properly installed, the result ultimately may be a disconnection of the intermediate steering shaft from the steering gear. This is a high-mileage durability issue that may manifest itself into an eventual loss of steering.

The cruise-control recall involves 792,000 2000 Ford F-150 pickups and Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator sport-utility vehicles, as well as 2001 Ford F-150 Supercrew pickups equipped with automatic cruise control. There have been 63 reports of fires that may have been caused by malfunctioning switches and one unconfirmed report of injury. Ford is asking owners to have dealers disable the cruise control for now.

Ford is recalling about 235,000 2006 Ford E-150, E-250, E-350 and E-450 vans, Ford Escape, Expedition and Explorer SUVs, Ford F-150 and Ranger pickups and Taurus sedans; Lincoln Navigator SUVs and Lincoln Mark LT pickups; and Mercury Mountaineer and Mariner SUVs because of problems with the windshield wiper motor.
