Ford Focus Lowering Kit - Intrax Lowering Springs
Intrax creates the finest Ford Focus springs, from start to finish. Ford Focus Intrax springs begin the forming process with cold winding to the most exacting standards. Within two hours of forming, springs are stress relieved in an oven (not to be confused with heat treating), and then shot peened to remove surface imperfections and further relieve internal stress. This can extend service life of a spring up to 200% or more. Next, the spring is "blocked" (wound to a longer length than required, and set in a hydraulic press to obtain designed free length). This eliminates the "settling" other brands require, due to the lower cost of their production processes.

The team was on to something and another investigation was started. With a performance parts strategy for the new Mustang already in progress, there were a few other pieces of the puzzle that made timing for this project just right.

LAS VEGAS, Nov. 2 - Ford Racing announced at the Specialty Equipment Manufacturer's Association (SEMA) show that performance hardware from Ford's supercar, the 2005 Ford GT, will soon be available in their Performance Parts catalog. Ford performance enthusiasts looking for the ultimate powertrain for any unique or custom application can now buy the same complete engine and transaxle assembly that is installed in the most spectacular Ford performance vehicle to ever come out of a Ford factory - the 2005 Ford GT. "From the Ford Focus all the way up to the Ford GT, FRPP is working hard to bring to market the right parts at the right price for all Ford performance enthusiasts - no matter what they drive," Allison added.

SEMA Show
When Ford's Special Vehicle Team worked its magic on the compact Focus, it took a three-pronged approach. The engine received revised intake and exhaust systems for improved power, the suspension was upgraded with stiffer springs and struts along with fatter anti-sway bars, and the rolling stock was upgraded with taller and wider alloy wheels shod in sticky high-performance rubber. While the SVT Focus was eliminated from the 2005 Ford lineup, the Blue Oval's performance parts division has picked up some of the slack by offering a wide range of bolt-on performance parts through its catalog. SVT-spec suspension packages, coil-over kits, lightweight alloy wheels and even high-flow intake and exhaust systems are now available from Ford Racing Performance Parts. The SVT suspension kit includes the exact same parts used on the production car, and it can be installed on any 2000-2005 three-door and five-door Focus. It's a shame that Ford killed the SVT Focus, as it was a true performance bargain. To make matters worse, the folks at Dearborn recently announced that the Cobra will make its debut in 2006 and the Lightning has been put on hold indefinitely, meaning that SVT has gone from offering three vehicles in 2004 to zero in '05. So, for the time being, true Ford fans will have to resort to shade-tree handiwork if they want a brand-new Blue Oval brawler. With a vast array of factory-approved and tested performance parts available, the nimble little Focus can still be a credible performance choice, and $275 is a fair deal for a complete "hi-po" suspension package straight from the factory.
