The new Ford Focus has available 15inch wheels. The new Chevy Impala has 16-inchers. Due to the low-profile tires that go with them, this translates into damaged wheels and flat tires from potholes and curbs. The fix often must include a new wheel, turning the old $5 flat-fix into a $600 job.
2002 Suzuki Aerio
The Suzuki Aerio is also available in a traditional sedan body style. In this regard, Suzuki follows the trend set by the Toyota Matrix, Ford Focus ZX5, and Mazda Protege5, all of which are offered in sedan versions (the Matrix sedan is called a Corolla). As such, the base Aerio S and GS share the distinctive front end styling of the SX but have a conventional trunk. The Aerio SX is short. Unlike the Ford Focus models, which are all exactly the same length, the Aerio SX is 5 inches shorter than the Aerio S and GS sedans. The SX is an inch shorter than the Focus and 5 inches shorter than the Toyota Matrix.

To the casual observer, the Ford Focus would seem to be little more than a big companys entry into the small car segment. And to a certain degree that is true. Whats not readily obvious to most is that the Ford Focus has essentially redefined the compact car segment. Ford has done with the Focus something General Motors seems unwilling or unable to do with its small cars-build a reliable, fun, sporty, practical car offered in many different styles, all for a sticker price of under $20,000. In many ways the Focus has no competent rival. The Cavalier is a relic, the Corolla is getting rather pricey and while no one would argue with its reliability, the Civic seems so generic when compared to the much cooler Focus. In order to find a suitable alternative to the Focus, one has to look ahead to the 2003 model year and the Pontiac Vibe, or perhaps the new for 2002 Civic Si.
