New Car Review: 2005 Ford Focus ZX4 ST
COMFORT:Interior changes are more apparent than those on the exterior, and also move Focus styling toward the mainstream without losing space, comfort, or character. Gone is the rounded design and ``integrated control panel'' in the dash, replaced by a more rectangular look and a standard layout of the audio and climate systems. Instruments, controls, and accessories are well-placed and easy to see and use. The ST is a premium sport-compact and its trim is appropriate to that status, with faux carbon fiber around the central controls and aluminized material surrounding the instruments. The steering wheel is manually adjustable for both tilt and reach, and has a thick leather rim with grips at ten and two. Its black leather and red stitching match the finish of the optional and highly-recommended leather sport seats, which have enough bolstering for lateral support while still being easy to get into and out of. They provide a level of comfort at the top of the class.

Extensive use of lightweight carbon fiber and composite parts has reduced the weight of the Dodge SRT-4 dramatically - by an estimated 500 pounds compared to the production SRT-4. Already a venomous legend, the Viper V-10 engine was thoroughly upgraded to reach 625-horsepower. Likewise, the suspension features tunable shocks with adjustable ride height, titanium high-rate springs, and stiffer anti-roll bars. The Viper Competition Coupe race car parts bin provides a high torque bias racing limited-slip differential, differential oil cooler, racing seats, and competition harnesses. The most apparent upgrade is the weight reduction therapy conducted with serious carbon fiber replacement surgery. The hood, decklid, front air splitter, and top are all clear-coated carbon fiber.

A-toy's group had one of the most commandeering displays of them all. Parades of cars showing off his body kits along with the suspension components of Bilstein, H&R and other performance parts by Concept One wheels and Xenon-Bulbs showered almost half the real estate of the entire show. On display for A-toy with kits was a black E60 5 series BMW with M5 rims, a red Porsche 997 Carrera, a C class Mercedes Benz, an E46 3 series BMW complete with carbon fiber hood, a red BMW Z3 roadster with aftermarket rims, a Chrysler 300c, a radically modified Toyota Altis, a Honda Accord and two Mistubishi Eclipse. Even Honda's tiny Jazz did not escape A-toy's creativity with a complete body kit that made it go from cute daily driver to Type-R looking road racer. Last year's Alien F-150 also made a comeback with new paintwork and huge Bazo rims. One of the more interesting cars presenting A-toy's skill in crafting body kits was a Cefiro on a turn stand dressed as an BMW M5. Autozone dropped the ball with their drop dead sexy 91 Honda NSX with carbon fiber hood and 18 inch rims. They also had an H2 Hummer with huge rims and a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution with an audio set up that took up the whole trunk to compliment its video display head unit by Panasonic upfront. Kai Racing held its own with its green EK civic with aggressively designed carbon fiber hood and a custom cut moon roof. A silver current generation Honda Accord was present as well as a blue EK Civic with a hot paint job on the hood with two pretty females' faces next to each other surrounded by flames.

Rather than simply drop the component set in the factory opening, Harley and his team first mounted the drivers to an MDF baffle, which was secured to the door's sheet metal. Custom fabricated carbon fiber pods were then created to take the place of the factory speaker grilles. These lightweight pods are a more resistant and more attractive way to showcase the high-end drivers.
