Ford Focus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Mechanically, it drew heavily from other European Ford models, using a sophisticated fully independent multi-link rear suspension (dubbed "Control Blade") derived from the Short-Long Arm system used in the Mondeo station wagon (estate), giving the Focus class-leading handling and ride.
2001 New York Auto Show
The Focus is a very competent and popular car, and Ford covers all the bases by offering so many different versions of the car. Whether you're looking for a station wagon ideal for a small family, a mini-sport sedan or a sporty compact car that you can tweak and make your own ride, there's a fun Focus that should meet your needs and budget.
Parker's - Chevrolet Lacetti Station Wagon (05 on) review
The Lacetti was formerly badged as a Daewoo, although the Station Wagon version was never previously available. It actually makes more sense as a family work horse vehicle in estate guise. The driving experience is reasonable, the interior looks good and it's well specified. The inclusion of luggage netting, luggage cover and floor net are thoughtful too. Looks are inoffensive too thanks to styling by Italdesign.

There are other good choices in wagons. One option for drivers who don't need all the space of a typical station wagon is BMW's 325xi sport wagon, the all-wheel-drive wagon version of the company's popular 3-series sport sedan. With a six-cylinder engine that puts out 184 hp, it's really more sport than wagon: Cargo space is even smaller than the V40 Volvo's. One nice feature: The rear window opens separately from the tailgate, which makes it easier to drop small packages into the back. Despite the smallish size, however, this is not a budget choice. The 325xi starts at $31,795, and the standard equipment is meager.

Motoring - Daewoo Nubira station-wagon
Although there's a slight feeling of flex from the Nubira's chassis in bumpy sections and very hastily taken corners, this station wagon delivers an acceptably comfortable ride and at the same time holds the road with well-mannered decorum.
