Ford has created in this new Focus RS8 the literal meaning of Pokemon, or Pocket Monster. A Ford Focus with rwd and a high-output v8 is a scary thought. This car is going to be capable of dangerously fast speeds. If they leave well enough alone and use a beefed-up version of the Focus SVT suspension, it should handle like a dream as well. The consersion kit for rwd is expected to be out next year for $5,000. Hopefully they will be able to use the stock 4-cylinder with this kit as well as the v8. Who wouldn't want a rwd Focus for only 5k more than the sticker?

The new Focus RS WRC 06 has been designed and built in less than 11 months by an experienced and innovative engineering team led by Christian Loriaux, technical director at British- based company M-Sport which operates the Blue Oval's WRC programme. The introduction of the Ford Focus RS WRC 06 presented M-Sport and Ford Team RS with a string of challenges and opportunities - not only because of the new model itself, but because in 2006 rallying is introducing a series of technical changes designed to reduce cost.

DEARBORN, MI (July 17, 2002) - Canadian-based engineering organization Multimatic has completed an agreement with Ford Racing Technology to be the exclusive constructor of the Ford Focus Daytona Prototype race car. Daytona Prototypes will be the name of the major championship class featured in the Rolex Sports Car Series beginning in 2003. Multimatic has been working on the design and development of the car for more than four months, but has delayed publicly revealing the details of the project until the Ford Racing partnership was completed. The car will be powered by a Robert Yates developed Ford modular V8 and will carry brand identification from the extremely popular Ford Focus world car. The Multimatic developed and built Ford Focus Daytona Prototype will test in October and its competition debut will be the 2003 Rolex 24 at Daytona. Cars will be run by an in-house team as well as being made available to customers.
