In addition to all of the Acura cars, Honda showed a couple of its own - starting the Ridgeline Street Sport. Taking a similar approach to Mitsubishi in making a tough production truck into a street rod, Honda got rid of all the extraneous body cladding, lowered and widened the truck, shaved off door handles and other detailing, and painted the whole thing metallic black. It now rides low on 22" rims, with a low body kit accentuating the big wheels. Mechanical changes were limited to side-mounted exhaust exits. The Honda Civic Si Sport Concept was Honda's own take on a sportier version of the new Civic Si. The Sport Concept basically consisted of a big, wide body kit with many attractive features. Mechanical changes were limited to a new exhaust, exiting through the center of the rear bumper, and prototype suspension. Street Image, with help from Toyota, decked out a new Avalon, of all things, but in a serious way. The Street Image Avalon Touring is supposed to seriously evoke a touring car - and it pretty much succeeds. The Japanese Buick is transformed with an aggressive, flared wide body kit with huge wheel arches. Mechanically, the car has custom coil-overs and even a custom fabricated twin-turbo setup.

Rather than go with wild wings and wide body flares, both firms opted for a European performance sedan persona. Both designs are aggressive, with ground-hugging stances that remain true to the car's original lines.
Sharpening the Focus
If FRT were to offer the suspension upgrades, it would develop the pieces into a bolt-on kit. So far so good. But the suspension kit would require the addition of the FR200's wide-body kit, or the tires would be sticking out of the fenders by a good 2 inches on either side. And how's this for a chicken-and-egg situation: If you wanted to buy the body kit without the suspension, your tires would be too far inside the fenderwells to work (or look right, which is as important to the import crowd). So which do you develop first? And how do you market them together cost-effectively? The FRT guys are wrestling with these issues before announcing availability of either component. One accessory you definitely won't see is the "snowflake" design wheel.
