Ford's new sedan brings the tight handling traits of a European touring car and a generous passenger compartment with seats for five plus luxury gear. Passengers ride higher than on seats in other sedans. Ford labels the design as Command Seating and compares the upright seat position to that of a high-hiked SUV. Five Hundred features front-wheel-drive (FWD) or all-wheel-drive (AWD) traction. The AWD system is the Haldex equipment from Volvo. Ford's pony car arrives in 2005 riding on a new platform with six-inch wheelbase stretch and new powertrains packed below that classic long hood. The RWD chassis carries MacPherson struts and a three-link live axle with Panhard rod. Exterior styling is fresh although familiar Mustang signatures have been retained - those C-scoops on flanks, tri-part lamps on the tail and a galloping pony in chrome planted at the center of the prow. Mustang's cockpit also earns a make-over with new accessories like chrome gauge rings and aluminum trim panels, while an optional color-configured instrument cluster brings 125 color choices for backlighting of dashboard gauges. FOCUS: A subcompact series grouped under the Focus label - best-selling small car in the world - subdivides into four formats as a four-door sedan, five-door station wagon, and hatchbacks in three-door and five-door configurations. Model nomenclature follows body styles with ZX3 for the three-door hatchback and ZX5 for the five-door hatch, ZX4 as a four-door sedan and ZXW for the wagon. Design revisions on the body for 2005 include new headlamp clusters and a larger grille in diamond pattern and a fresh fascia with broad air intake and round foglamps. Focus provides surprising room from a concise cabin with twin buckets in front of a fold-down bench and back bay for gear. Two different four-cylinder engines add spark to Focus for 2005.

On December 20, 2001, the Eastern District of Michigan Court handed down several rulings in Ford v. Great Domains, et al. In that case, EFF, along with pro bono counsel Eric Grimm and David Lowenshuss, represents 7 individuals who were sued by Ford for registering domain names that contain Ford trademarks. The domains are all used by individuals for purposes unrelated to selling Ford cars. Ford claimed both trademark infringement and violation of the Anti-Cybersquatter Protection Act (ACPA). Earlier, the court had denied EFF's motion to dismiss the case because Ford could not force the defendants, none of whom live or work in Michigan and several of whom live in England, to defend this case in Michigan.

Formula Ford is a single seater class in motor sport which exists in some form in many countries around the world. It is an entry-level series to motor racing, with many drivers aspiring to one day reach Formula One. Young drivers often begin their competitve careers in Formula Ford, or after a few years in karting. A Formula Ford car is one of the more distinctive-looking open-wheel race cars because it does not have wings to create aerodynamic downforce, one of the reasons the series has persisted for so long in motor racing. Top speeds are not high, handling is excellent, and the lack of wings ensures that cars following another are not aerodynamically disadvantaged. For the 2006 season, the Zetec engine is being superceded by the 1600cc, DOHC 16v Duratec engine. The Zetec was criticized by engineers and designers as less than ideal because of its bulk and weight. The move to Duratecs has brought Formula Ford back to using 1600cc capacity motors.
