Add in advanced safety technology and clean emissions and you've got yourself the ideal road-ready model at an attractive value. Find the Fusion where sensuous interior style and craftsmanship meets performance and handling that gratify your urge to drive.
Ford: Fusion merges style, impressive handling
The interior fit and finish are particularly impressive. The Fusion looks like an entry-level Audi or BMW inside, with contrasting two-tone treatments, tasteful chrome accents and piano-black finishes that combine for an international, well-equipped feeling.
European New Car Assessment Programme: Safety Rating Details
The Fusion uses the same structure and running gear as the Fiesta supermini and performed similarly. The passenger compartment proved strong and suffered only minimal deformation in the frontal impact. The driver and front passenger ran some risk of chest injury from high impact forces fed through to their chests from the seat belts, however. Ford has worked hard to make the drivers knee impact area safe but some hazards remain. The car protected reasonably in the side impact for a model without a thorax-protecting airbag.
USATODAY.com - Ford mines consumers' wants
Ford learned an expensive lesson on meeting customer demand. During its recent rollout of the Ford Five Hundred sedan, it found more customers were interested in the all-wheel-drive option than expected.
Auto Reviews
The base price of the four-cylinder Fusion with manual transmission is $17,995, including destination charge. The 2005 Accord starts at $16,845, while the 2006 Camry - essentially a carryover car until the redesigned '07 model arrives in the spring - starts at $18,985. The Fusion is fairly spartan, too, when it comes to cabin amenities. You can't get a navigation system, which you can on the Camry and the Accord. A power moonroof costs extra on the Fusion SEL; it's standard on the Accord EX and Camry XLE.
Ford's new Fusion can easily pass as a sports sedan - Auto Weekend ...
The 1986 Ford Taurus was a sensation from the start. But Ford redesigned it a decade later with an eye away from its existing customers and toward an ill-defined group of supposed new buyers. The ovoid design scheme that resulted turned off a lot of people. Sales slid, and Ford was forced to concentrate on fleet sales as a way to prop up the sales numbers. That resulted in lower profits and poor resale value.
Ford Hopes Its Fusion Proves to Be More Than California Dreaming
The Fusion comes with a 3-liter, 221 horsepower engine, and a six-speed automatic transmission. According to Ford's engineers, it gets 32 miles per gallon on the highway. It has an excellently crafted interior that rivals anything found in luxury models.
